“Healing The Hurt”
ABOUT THIS GROUP SESSION
Amid vulnerability, we all need to feel safe: we need the safety to trust, to be intimate and to share deep feelings, joy and love.
The image of the medieval castle illustrates both the balance and imbalance in the heart protector official. in times of peace, the drawbridge is lowered, and the gates are open, and in times of war, the drawbridge is raised, and the gates are closed.
When our heart protector is functioning well, we appropriately open and close the castle gates: we feel safe opening ourselves to closeness with friends and intimates and contain ourselves with those we do not know or trust. but when this official is not functioning well, we do the opposite: we raise the drawbridge and close our hearts when positive, trustworthy relationships are available, and we lower the drawbridge and make ourselves excessively vulnerable in the face of abusive relationships or threatening situations.
Today, we want to create a sense of safety and trust to allow the healing of issues around safety, trust, abuse, and neglect. potentially, this can open us to a new sense of intimacy and trust in all our relationships.
